Overall, the IBM deal sounds GREAT for Dell, if for no other reason that it will have a reliable supplier, with tremendous capacity.

However, this statement about royalties strikes me as rather odd. Why does access to patents "likely" mean no more royalty payments? There surely must be an express understanding one way or another as to whether Dell will pay royalties for patented products.
