Tony, re:"Today's move will help insulate Intel's profit margins in the volatile market for PC chips"

Can you (or anybody) decipher the last sentence? Wha?

Sure I can - - - Total CRAP!

Some typically incompetent reporter is just trying to take another cheap shot to get his story into the "conquest of Intel" keyword searches.

Tony, Re: Clarification of article on Level One.

Craig Barrett said:
Intel chief executive Craig Barrett [said], "We are deadly serious about our networking communications group."

However, Jim Davis, Staff Writer, CNET News.com, said:
While the market for networking equipment continues to grow by leaps and bounds as use of the Internet expands, Intel is facing pricing pressures at the low end of the x86 processor market from Advanced Micro Devices. Today's move will help insulate Intel's profit margins in the volatile market for PC chips.

My interpretation of the article is what Jim Davis said Intel said, which is:
The acquisition marks a significant push by Intel to move into the fast-growing networking market, where it said it will now become a leading component supplier.

The comment about "pressures at the low end from AMD...Today's move will help insulate Intel's PM in...PC chips " is Jim Davis' interpretation only.

I have my own personal beliefs on the long-term vision of the networking industry, which appear to be consistent with Intel's aggressive move in the networking business. That is my interpretation.
