The way I see it, the whole thing has an "AWARE" kind of spin to it.... I am pleased to see terms such as "licensed".... and doubt whether WSTL could or can survive in the manufacturing side of modems in the long term.

Obviously, ALA needs WSTL for BEL...somehow...some way...seems to be the same situation for FUJ in BT.... do they provide intellectual property ? Maybe, maybe not.... let's just remember that a couple of years ago, Westell was the leader in ADSL... the one thing they most certainly learned in participating in all those trials, are the details of the performance of the product in field settings.

When I research xDSL I am struck by the uniqueness of the different Telcos and the question, how do you make the damn thing (ADSL) work ?
My belief in reading between the lines, is that WSTL has some answers that some pretty major players need.

Having said that, I'd sure like to see some positive PR from the telcos and FUJ/ALA regarding WSTL's importance.
