bp, all sells aren't related to timing. however, 5-10 times normal sales ought to raise an eyebrow, imho. especially when the money is in the billions - no house or education costs that much...

but, as you know, it isn't a 100% indicator.

just one piece in a complex puzzle.

There is no good reason to sell stock if you think it is sure to continue to rise in value, unless you do not wish to participate in that rise in value.

BP, one reads a tea-leaf or tea-leaves. Dell has something like $18B
in direct or indirect stock holdings right now. That definitely
isn't chump change, but he has definitely picked up his rate of
selling Dell stock. Its probably less obvious as a percentage of his
net worth, but it is definitely impressive when looked at in dollar
amounts. (Feb 19 was a planned sale, and he may have done something
else since- I don't know; I mostly wanted to check it out myself but
thought I'd post what I found. I don't have any position in Dell,
but hope it goes down.)
