Hi Bahama: "relative reliable" BRCM's mod/demod scheme is to compare the technology over cable with the xDSL technology over copper wire or other wireless scheme. I believe that broadband communication over the cable has best chance to win. BRCM as a leader has the "best technology" so far and therefore has the value. Please don't mislead. Another comparison between BRCM technology and other company's platforms is that BRCM's can provide two-way communication solution, while most of the digital technologies over the cable is only provide one-way digital video/audio. This explains the BRCM's value in another way. We are discussing the value of the BRCM's technology to make money, not technology itself. Daniel
