hope TXN news will help AMAT tommorrow. Of course, we
should also get a friendly number from UE rate.

*OT* Actually, I think you've got Fry's confused with Nordstrom's. Fry's is the one with the player piano. <G>

Gottfried, Re: "CompUSA usually keeps one or two associates busy at the cash
registers. More often just one. Fry's has , what, 10 to 25
going, depending on time of day. Fry's also has a lady
playing on a grand piano and a coffee shop inside the store."

Good way to put it. Also, Fry's Sunnyvale has 80 (eighty!) checkout registers. CPU's success may well be reflected in their stock price (~$6 and change).

I still think Murphy, that I quoted yesterday because he had the most convenient, easy to find survey, is right. PCs for 1999 will be in good shape. Granted, YOY, units will do better than revenues. In any event, I come forward as more of an Intel and AMAT tout, rather than boxmaker tout, in this area, and those two should both do very well in 1999.

This subject has been beat to death, IMO, and I haven't even read the AMAT posts beyond yours.

Cal making the tournament this year? Their record looks a bit on the marginal side. Anyway, GO Bears.

Tony

Editing, Cal beat one of the Oregon teams last night, newscaster said they are in the running.
