All they have to do is break their promise to Bill Gates and leave the CPU-ID off the chip.

Nobody really seemed to bite on the idea which surprised me.
An idea that comes from somebody who controls a fair amount
of cash?

There is no doubt that CPU-ID fit's in with "Wintels" strategy.
The consumer is the enemy, they have the money and "Wintel" wants
it. CPU-ID will help them get it.

It won't happen this time IMHO.

As there is friction within "Wintel" your proposed solution seems
natural.

I wonder when the penny will drop? It doesn't seem to have yet.
