Dan,

<<What's freezing?>>
That's when it's so cold outside that when you give your dog a boot to get off the front step it breaks.
We have more miles on our snowblower than our our vehicles!

Baptisim is a great topic, lot's of meat here.

I agree with you in that the Holy Spirit can be a paraclete and as such is not for salvation but is received as a result of salvation.

My reasoning is found in the following scriptures...

Romans 8:9 "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

I Corinthian 12:13 Provides that there is a spiritual baptism that transpires at the moment of salvation "For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body,..."

These statements definitely have no relationship with water baptism and the men described in Acts 10 were not baptized by water but already had the Holy Spirit. How could they if they were not saved (Rom 8:9) also John 3:18

I Peter 3:21 describes water baptism as a "figure." The depiction of Christ's death, burial, resurrection is found in it.

Jesus set the example and He of course did not have need of salvation so like the Lord's table the Christian is obedient to follow His example and instruction.

So I actually see three types of Baptism.... Spiritual, Water, and fire, the latter not being at all pleasant.

God bless,
John
