re: yhoo and cable access. One truly great benefit of the Internet is the free access the user has to "the world" of information. I can't imagine the broadband service provider (BSP) limiting access to some web addresses (can you?). Most customers would say adios immediately.

OTOH, it's a given that @Home will want cutomers to make @Home content their home.

Steve, VRIO - Now that there is a pact with AOL, what are the prospects for Verio? I own AOL, and was thinking of adding another internet stock.

Good investing,and thanks,
DD

XMCM, YHOO, AMZN – what is the future of direct Email marketing?

Steve, It looks like direct marketing is becoming a buzzword. XMCM is claiming to be successful at its implementation, while recently YHOO is naming it as a major growth factor in its future. Are others, like AMZN, likely to follow? What is your take on it? Should we run for shelter from those incoming Email campaigns?

It's "easy," Steve, but politically suicidal.

Bottom line is, broadband cable may try to create a default environment, but it's not going anywhere. On the other hand, I don't see a "dial tone" approach emerging too quickly, either. Obviously, that's what AOL's upset about.

Had to laugh at the failed deal-making attempts between AOL and ATHM, as characterized in the "Upside" interview with ATHM's Jermoluk. What a bunch of children! Your readers might like it, too.
