Victoria - Re: "experts have said, it must land the legal equivalent of a three-point shot over over a 6 foot 8 power forward. It can be done, but it won't be easy."

Intel is in trouble if that forward plays for the Golden State Warriors.

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 1999--

Optimization for Pentium III Provides Business Users Advanced Data Query, Analysis and Reporting
Capabilities; Coronado Sole Desktop Business Application Featured at Intel Developer Forum

Portola Dimensional Systems, developer of visual computing technology for business applications,
demonstrated the increased productivity available to business professionals using advanced graphical
data analysis tools to dozens of media, analysts and industry peers. Portola was one of approximately 12
companies invited to participate in the Corporate Business Development media suite at the Intel
Developer Forum last week in Palm Springs, California.

"The standard PC has been turned into a powerful tool for high-impact business analysis and
presentation," said Karen von Haunalter, vice president, Portola. "The incredible power now available on
the desktop, combined with our visual computing technology, gives users easy access to business
information with unparalleled decision-making power. "

Portola was the first company to adapt advanced graphics technology to the workplace and the only
company with graphical expertise aimed at information-driven business users. Its latest product,
Coronado, takes advantage of the latest processors, such as the Pentium III, to deliver bottom-line
knowledge to all professionals needing to make informed decisions based on data -- providing inexpensive
multidimensional data query, analysis and reporting directly from the desktop PC.

Coronado transforms data into visual attributes, such as position on the x, y, an z axes, time and space,
then displays it in rich graphical forms to reveal patterns, relationships and trends. Processors and
graphics acceleration technology provide the "horsepower" for complicated computing; the PC brings that
power to the desktop.

"Portola transforms the solid visual computing foundations Intel processors provide into fact- and
data-based business intelligence solutions, "said von Haunalter.

Portola Dimensional Systems develops technology that extends the visual data analysis and presentation
capabilities of mainstream business applications. Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Santa Clara,
California, the company is made up of a unique blend of individuals with expertise in interface design, 2D
and 3D graphics, expert systems and interactive, real-time application development, as well as
international finance and financial services. Portola's products optimize business user knowledge and
productivity by offering usable, intuitive application tools. For more information, visit Portola's Web site at

AudioSoft's hi-fi software capitalizes on Intel's new Pentium(R) III processor to enable high-speed CD-to-PC music compressions

GENEVA, March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- AudioSoft, pioneer of technology for secure music distribution over digital networks, today announced the release of a new version of Virtuosa Gold that is optimized for Intel's Pentium(R) III processor. Engineered to use the new processor's extensive multimedia instruction set, Virtuosa Gold provides PC users with the most advanced MP3 compression technology available today and ensures superior digital audio quality.

AudioSoft's Virtuosa Gold is the ultimate jukebox, CD ripper and CD-burning software available on the Internet. Software tuned to Intel's Pentium III processor has significantly improved Virtuosa Gold's overall performance. Virtuosa Gold is the only all-in-one jukebox-Cd-Ripper-Cd-Burner digital audio application in worldwide demonstration at the "Pentium III Processor Showroom".

"The Pentium III processor-optimized MP3 codec in Virtuosa Gold is now the 'must-have' faster encoding solution that maintains superior digital audio quality," said Giacomo Biondi-Morra, Vice President of Business Development for AudioSoft. "Coupling the technologies enables Virtuosa Gold to leverage the secure MP3 market while providing a high level of protection for music copyright owners."

"Intel is pleased to see companies like AudioSoft announcing software like their Virtuosa Gold that allows end users to take advantage of the capabilities of the Pentium III processor," said Tom Galvin, Director of Entertainment/Education Market Development at Intel Corporation. "The result is more convenience for music lovers both on and off the Net."
