Mark,

I can see the relationship between a strong US bond market and a strong dollar, but I think that a strong equity market is a side benefit of the previous two elements remaining strong.

Japan was surprisingly strong today. The story is that due to the influx of Yen being injected by the BOJ, the markets are looking for a place to park that cash. But consumer confidencec/demand is what will make the difference in Japan.

Btw, I don't disagree that the market is being rigged. But you know what?? Our entire economy is rigged to favor one group over another (usually those with money). In fact, most of us benefit from this rigged economy in one way or another. The gov't allocates funds as they see fit, not as WE wish. Thus, it is "rigged". Look at the capital gains tax as a prime example.. short term traders are penalized, while those who hold stock for 12-18 months receive preferential treatment through lower tax rates.

The stock market is just a bit more blatant interference is something that most people thought was sancrosanct.

So they'll rig it and keep the party going until they're sure that everyone get to attend. Then the US party-goers will be cut off to bring the world back to a controlled level of sobriety.

Regards,

Ron
