Major Companies to Spend $83B on Information Technology to Issue Bills and Collect Payments From Internet Customers March 5, 1999 PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE) -- According to a new study from Killen & Associates -- Enterprise eBilling and Payments Market: New Opportunities for Billers and IT Suppliers -- companies like Citibank, Bell Atlantic, and Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) that issue monthly bills will spend $83 billion to equip their computer and information technology (IT) systems to issue bills to households and businesses that are attached to the Internet. Currently, companies primarily mail paper bills to their Internet-enabled customers.
