Hewlett-Packard -- splitting the computer and electronics giant into two separate companies -- hopes to increase shareholder value. A recent study shows the most successful corporate splitups are much smaller than Hewlett-Packard's $68 billion market value - McKinsey & Co. looked at more than 130 of them over the past decade and found that the best performers were companies with a market value below $1 billion.
