Sterling Commerce Announces Agreement with Web-Based Retailer
Onsale, Inc.

Customers Check Status Of Tens of Thousands of Web-Based Orders Monthly

COLUMBUS, Ohio, March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Sterling Commerce (NYSE: SE - news), a leading worldwide provider of business-to-business
electronic commerce (EC) software and services, today announced a new three-year agreement to provide value-added electronic commerce
services to Onsale®, Inc. (Nasdaq: ONSL - news), a leading Internet real-time retailer. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The new
agreement continues the relationship between Onsale and Sterling Commerce which began in 1996.

Onsale uses Sterling Commerce for the processing services and software required to facilitate customers checking the status of their orders
placed at the Onsale atCost(TM) and Onsale atAuction(TM) Web sites. The order status information, provided by Onsale's shippers, is
configured for the Onsale Web sites by solutions from Sterling's COMMERCE family of EC community management services and GENTRAN
business process integration software. Onsale's broad- based selection includes personal computers, consumer electronics, sports and fitness
equipment and travel packages. Onsale has over one million customers registered at its Web site, with 154,000 unique visitors and 1.2 million
page views daily.
