Mohan,

I would not be surprised if some of the points in your post came true. This could grow into something more strategic, we shall see. As I posted on the CPQ thread yesterday, IBM is an innovator in the drive area (7200rpm drives, drive heads, laptop drives, and they are coming out with a 340mb drive the size of a quarter!! that will be used in PDA's and digital cameras), LCD area (highest resolution LCD available in a laptop is currently sold by IBM in it's Thinkpad 770 line - 1280x1024), and chip technology. It boils down to how much of the really advanced stuff they let Dell use, especially in the laptop area, as it would tend to minimize their own advantage with the Thinkpad line.

Regards,
John

Mo- I think the only think that could get Dell below 80 again (40 pre-split) would be a warning from Intel....cash is going to come in to the market over the next few weeks...a little sell-off mid-afternoon would not be surprised..but we should close here (184 Dow/40 Naz) or at higher levels...Would be a great close to the week, and good for opening next week (barring unforeseen news)..

I think, for the short-term, the inflation-worriers shot their wad.....it gonna be a while before they can find some data (somewhere) that is going to help their case...in the meantime, market should go up, or be flat at worst....
