OT We have to let them win one once in a while ---------------------------------------------------- Compaq named best hardware supplier at ISPA Internet industry awards COMMUNICATIONS - March 05, 1999 10:13 Compaq has been named 'Best Hardware Supplier' at the UK's first Internet Industry Awards ceremony, held on Wednesday, 24 February 1999 in London, England. The awards, which were sponsored by the Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA), have been designed to recognise the growing importance of the Internet industry in the UK and the companies that are vital to its success. The objective of the 'Best Hardware Supplier' award is to recognise the best supplier that provides the essential base upon which new technologies can thrive. Compaq was chosen for this accolade for its innovation, reliability, presentation and usability. Tim Pearson, Chairman of ISPA, said, "The awards were given by the industry to applaud individuals, companies and products whose achievements are worthy of special attention. They are unique in that they give the Internet industry the opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous strides made by this young and fast-moving sector." James Stevenson, director of the Enterprise Computing Group at Compaq, said, "The ISP sector has a fantastic opportunity to help UK businesses fully move into the Internet age, and it is our goal to address their needs by providing the best hardware, solutions and services available.
