The company PNLK keeps...Just released!,,,,,,,,Microsoft Certified Solution Provider, Rare Medium Group Inc. ('RRRR'), Develops shop.microsoft.com Website
NEW YORK, March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Rare Medium Group Inc. (Nasdaq: RRRR - news), raremedium.com, a leading provider of Internet and E-commerce business solutions, today announced its role in developing the debut of Microsoft's (Nasdaq: MSFT - news) first online store, shop.microsoft.com, which provides one central source for all Microsoft products, from hardware to software and Microsoft Press, mspress.microsoft.com, (also developed by Rare Medium) titles. Rare Medium worked with Microsoft in the development of the store, as a showcase for Microsoft's electronic-commerce platform, which utilizes a range of technologies that include the Windows NT Server operating system, Microsoft SQL Server 7.0, Commerce Server, Site Server and Internet Information Server.

''Rare Medium is proud to have collaborated with Microsoft for the launch of their first online store,'' said Glenn S. Meyers, Chairman, CEO, and President of Rare Medium Group Inc. ''We have been a supporter and evangelist of Microsoft technologies since our inception in 1995, were an early adopter of Microsoft's Internet development software and technology platform, and were a founding partner of Microsoft's Site Builder program. To say the least, this was a very exciting project for us.''

Rare Medium's role in helping develop shop.microsoft.com included participation and counsel regarding the following: design, strategy, branding and identity, information and site architecture, graphical design, user interface, and client side coding. Rare Medium also helped coin the store's moniker, shop.microsoft.com.

''In defining the user interface for this online venture, originally code-named NITRO (New Interactive Technologies for Resellers Online), we examined the methodology of a sale, and sought to define the buying process from the user's perspective,'' explained Glenn S. Meyers, Chairman, CEO, and President of Rare Medium Group Inc. ''We took the metaphor of browsing through the aisles of a physical store, where a user can pick up a product and receive the richness of product detail from the box, and translated this into the user experience for shop.microsoft.com.''

Shop.microsoft.com provides comprehensive product information and specifications regarding any Microsoft product sold in the United States. A web user can select a product, read a description, obtain features and system requirements, and even get a demo, all at the request of a click, make a buying decision and begin to check out, with the option of ordering from a reseller partner or directly from Microsoft at the estimated retail price (ERP), which is typically 10-25% higher than the street price provided by resellers. The reseller partners currently participating in shop.microsoft.com are Beyond.com, CDW, CompUSA, and Insight. Future releases of shop.microsoft.com will be tailored for specific countries and resellers.

''The objective for the online store is to make sure our customers can acquire Microsoft products when, where and how they want them,'' said Ken Schneider, Microsoft's director of electronic marketing. ''We were very pleased to work with Rare Medium Group to make that goal a reality.''

Technology Behind shop.microsoft.com

Shop.microsoft.com was built on the Microsoft Windows NT server network operating system using the Microsoft Active Server technology. This technology allows developers to use their favorite scripting language to tap into the powerful resources of Windows NT Server, Microsoft Internet Information Server, and Microsoft Site Server, Commerce Edition. These technologies, coupled with Microsoft SQL Server client/server database management system, provide a powerful platform for data-enabled Internet applications. Development was completed using Microsoft Visual InterDev integrated Web application development system, the robust development environment integrated with Visual Studio development studio. Visual InterDev lets developers create powerful data-driven Web sites, view and edit database tables, and remotely debug code on the web server.

Hello, I bought 10k today at the ask with no problem. There seems to be more and more companies trying to be one of the first with international business on the net. I am afraid that if PNLK doesn't do it right this time, the stock will take a major hit.
