engineer!
" HDR is a CDMA thing, but there is something like it proposed for GSM. Not sure if they can really do it wiht the capacity contraints they have right now. TDMA cannot get there....Have you EVER seen any advertised TDMA data system?"
US TDMA and GSM both have choosen EDGE as a path to highspeed. It means that TDMA will have the same speed as GSM EDGE.This will be an alternative for GSM operators that don't get a licence for 3G and also will be a development path to 3g for US TDMA operators where the government has been intelligent enough to sell big parts of the frequencys which had been agreed to be used for the 3G systems/R

Am I allowed to ask another telephone question ? (Well, I am going to ask anyway).

If I have refused to keep changing the three AA batteries in my phone after they drain in about five days, how is it that the following two things are still going on :

The LEDs do glow a little bit.

And, the speaker phone function will work (but -- only if I pick up the receiver, get a dial tone, and THEN push the speaker phone button).

(The speaker phone will work as designed during the first 4.9 days of fresh battery life).

Jon.

To be fair, I have not seen any advertised CDMA data system either.
