Larry, what I heard is that Valence had more than one contract offer last year. One of them was Acer. The way I heard it, Acer planned to market a portable with Valence's battery strapped externally or as an accessory. They didn't want to take the time to integrate it within the case and Lev didn't approve.

It appears to be more the case of finding the best buyer and program to introduce the product. Better IBM than Ductrex, especially if you have the best available. I heard samples were shipped last May, in the hundreds and then thousands in June/July, but not "in earnest". I believe they were using corrugated or wooden crates at the time.

Larry,

I heard the same thing from someone who had apparently verified it early on with one of the military contractors - think it may have been Alliant.
