Do I set a simple limit buy at my price target, or will this trigger an immediate buy because it's below the stock's current price?

If you can get it to give you an immediate buy at below the current price, that would be quite impressive.

Yes, just put in a limit buy at your target price which is presumably below the current price. If the price has already sunk below your target, your limit order will get executed at your limit or better. If not, it will get executed should the price ever sink that low. Of course, if the price goes up instead, you'll get no execution at all unless you change your order.
