("SoftQuad" or the "Company") (NASDAQ:SWEBF; TSE:SKI) today announced consolidated results for the first quarter of 1998. For the three months ended March 31, 1998, the Company recorded sales of $4.0 million, which represents a 26% decrease from the $5.4 million achieved in the comparable period last year. In accordance with Canadian GAAP, the net loss for the quarter ended March 31, 1998, amounted to $1.8 million or 13 cents per share, as compared to a net loss of $14.8 million or $1.13 per share for the comparable quarter last year. Under U.S. GAAP, the net loss for the quarter ended March 31, 1998, was $1.6 million or 12 cents per share, as compared to a net loss of $8.8 million or 67 cents per share for the comparable quarter last year.
