SOFTQUAD INTERNATIONAL INC. ANNOUNCES RESULTS FOR 1998 Q1

BEGINS STRATETEGIC MOVE INTO EDUTAINMENT MARKET AND EXPANDS HOTMETAL PRODUCT FAMILY

Toronto, Canada, (May 15, 1998) - "SoftQuad International Inc. ("SoftQuad" or the "Company") (NASDAQ:SWEBF; TSE:SKI) today announced consolidated results for the first quarter of 1998. For the three months ended March 31, 1998, the Company recorded sales of $4.0 million, which represents a 26% decrease from the $5.4 million achieved in the comparable period last year.

In accordance with Canadian GAAP, the net loss for the quarter ended March 31, 1998, amounted to $1.8 million or 13 cents per share, as compared to a net loss of $14.8 million or $1.13 per share for the comparable quarter last year. Under U.S. GAAP, the net loss for the quarter ended March 31, 1998, was $1.6 million or 12 cents per share, as compared to a net loss of $8.8 million or 67 cents per share for the comparable quarter last year.

...good/superior? job Richard, Selwyn, Steven, et al...http://www.NewKidCo.com site updated...still do not understand lack of [any] information on currently shipped [Gameboy&reg] titles...we still like Selwyn's [Pres, NKC(IF)] Alpha Five baby and how he participates in his own message board...Alpha certainly deserves just compensation for this 15+ year 1,000,000+ installed-base product line...and growing stronger?...Alpha Five appears it could/should simply be a [major] product force with the right company behind it...but that move would have to be now in order to maximize NKC(IF) shareholder value...in our opinion...ref/ alphafive.com
