Mama Bear is still right. Regardless of the "responsibility" of the situation (hey, some kids use birth control and STILL get pregnant...are they "responsible" for their situation?), the issue is still about control.
You are trying to saddle a very fine line that AT LEAST the fundamentalists won't straddle. I'll give them credit...as wrong as they are, they manage to maintain a consistency to their argument. you won't even do that.
