I looked at the intraday chart for Xoma today. Chart very quiet until about 1:30 p.m.

At that point and for the next 20 min. or so 5 or 6 blocks ranging from 20k to 30k shares traded. A little after 2 p.m. a block of close to 60k shares sold.

Somebody panicking or somebody know something?

Can't find any news to account for the decline in stock price.

Just a thought. I sent an e-mail to Xoma requesting their comment on the stock's sudden decline. Of course, they may just ignore me, but then again if enough shareholders bombard them with similar requests they might be prompted to issue a news release.

I formerly owned Sequus stock this past summer and a similar sharp decline in their stock did occur. The company did issue a news release commenting that they knew of no reasons to account for their stocks decline and that all their ongoing programs were proceeding well.

Alza bought Sequus about a month or so later. I'm not implying that Xoma will be bought only that strange things do happen with stocks that have low prices and trade thinly.
