Ahhhh, so can the vs-840! It is an 8-track in name only. With bouncing tracks, the capability to playback 64 tracks is also there.

Also the vs-840 has an internal digital effects processor, Roland's cosm technology (turning an input into a simulated guitar amp sound), and an on-board mixer. Plus it is SO easy to use, I love it!

The limitation is disk space. The 840 uses 100meg zip-disks. The 880 has a 2.1gig hd, I believe, with external zip capability. I'm pretty sure that there is away to hook up the 840 to an external drive as well, although I haven't needed to yet.
