If I owned Intel @ $14, I would have sold already. As I own none, I bought the right to sell Intel at $125 (INQOE's) several weeks ago. I took profits, but I still own a small INQSR position (July 90's).

I'm interested in how that plays out, too. However, that trade's success or failure will reveal nothing about the capital gains tax, tax avoidance, or investment discipline.

You shouldn't let your investments be hamstrung by fear of capital gains taxes. If that alone keeps your portfolio in stasis, you could try #reply-7842778, or #reply-7899795.

I remain befuddled about the "problems of the long term holder". Perhaps you can describe some for me.
