Freddie,

Do me a favor and go read the series of press releases MediaOne has put out over the last month or so. It is very clear from that what MediaOne is doing. They have set up GI as their primary supplier. They are also trying to push an "open" architecture where they can plug in other suppliers and drive down GI's prices. So they've pulled in Phillips and C-Cube et al. to try to develop competing platforms. But those platforms are not ready for prime time yet. The first deployment of digital STB was Detroit. And that was done with General Instrument. MediaOne announced that they are going to deploy 2 mm customers with GI STBs this year. I infer that MediaOne is going to roll out some test markets this year with the Open architecture, but that for now GI is the incumbent. Feel free to disagree with me, but please read all the PR first.

Doughboy.
