Hank,

"I stand thoroughly disgusted."

I am sitting, its easier to balance the drink that way.

I agree with you completely, on Halpin and the machine we know as the market. How this guy can look at himself in the mirror is beyond my comprehension.

Good luck

Thurston

I might as well jump in with one more angle... Don't you just love buying stuff with a mail-in rebate?

I just got back a postcard from Maxtor which says my rebate was denied because my receipt "didn't demonstrate purchase of the product required for the rebate." I bought a 5.7G Maxtor. I sent a copy of the COMPUSA receipt which says CODE 192247 MAXT 5.7GB COMPUSA H QTY 1 PRICE $159.99 (lousy, but had $30 rebate).

In addition to the form which I filled out, I sent the cutout from the box which identifies the product, and a copy of the sales receipt with the disk purchase circled.

Try calling the Maxtor inquiry line: totally voicemail. No return phone call yet. I have until March 12th to respond. Called the COMPUSA customer service, but it's only open until 5pm Central. I'm on the West Coast and it's too late.

Totally frustrated!
