Ish, I believe the four boys in Stand By Me did that. I also think now any time I set out to cross one, especially a 75mph track, I'd start out running whether I could hear anything or not.

Sometimes you see trestles here, we have a lot, with little platforms in the middle, sometimes not; they probably don't want to encourage people.

They were talking about building a pedestrian bridge now.

I've tried the Tonto and dirt thing. Never heard much but dirt.

As a matter of fact, I now remember trying the rail and ear thing, but there weren't any trains coming for a while, and I got bored. (I could fall asleep and could sleep through that today.) Instead I dug a hole in the field. And covered it with plywood. And then kids jumped on each other inside it.

PS ~ That's a movie you might like.

Ish,

I grew up in a town along the Rock River and there was a Chicago Northwestern trestle over the river which made for a nice shortcut when going to see friends on the other side of the river. Since we lived close to the railroad tracks, I knew when the trains came through so the trips over the railroad bridge were always made when I knew it was safe.

Trains are so cool.
