Ramsey: I agree with you that there will be no rate hike because I also see a recession coming. But Wall Street did worry about it earlier this week.

I will take a note about your bet -- "I am willing to bet that before the year is over, he willing be doing the 3 rate drops again just to keep us from heading too fast into a recession." <g>-- I don't think he will do this again for the rest of his life even if there is another LTCM crisis, not 3 times in a row, I mean.

Best.

could you elaborate regarding the most relevant factors for such a statement, and your expectations for the market over the next 6-9 mo.

I love this thread for the great TA stuff but, the commentaries regarding cause and effect add the requisite fun factor!

PS this could turn into the open vs. closed universe astrophysics argument!

Ramsey,

You're right on the money. I fully expect that foreign devaluations will force the Fed to lower rates even more to create weakness in the dollar.

What will be really interesting to follow is how depositor withdrawals of "mattress money" in anticipation of Y2K will affect interest rates.

It will be a tug of war of monumental levels, I'll wager.

Regards,

Ron
