Hey George, just be patient. This thing will take some time to get under control, but it will. For one thing, I read a long article on how Wall Street is starting to tighten up. It was entitled Eye of the Storm or something like that. Essentially, the brokerage houses are starting to raise margin requirements on volatile stocks like these.

What will eventually happen is that there will be a big bad downturn, maybe not this year, maybe not in the next, but there will be one. When that happens, all stocks will go down. The Internet stocks will get crushed. It will literally bankrupt all the amateurs. Then normalcy will return.

There was the story of this guy in his late 20's who quit his job to day-trade full time. He borrowed about $80K from credit cards and mortgaged his house. He was doing well for awhile on the Internet stocks. Then next thing he knew, it was all gone. He got margined out and he had no cards left to play.

Basically, this type of day trading is nothing more than gambling. Worse odds than Vegas, because at least in Vegas you know that it's gambling. Stock trading is a socially accepted addiction.

Good luck to you all and don't go too nuts!

You might have to wait a long time George.

Bubble will burst indeed,, when EBAY hit some where pre-split $1,200, even then not a sure thing.

Now if this has any news, say possibly with AOL or any other nets for alliance, it will open up 50 points and go up another 50 points.

Throw out the logic, this is the bubble of highest order, never before mankind has realised the potential of new industrial revolution. As demographics increase and the convinience of net commerce gets accpted more widely. When will there be that critical mass ?

I belive far far long way from now.

Compare Wall Mart's valuation based on their EBITDA and EBAY's ,,,

Awesome concept no ?

YHOO has been ticking steady for last 3 years, so has AOL,, both really began to reap the fruits only recently.

<<No they have a bunch of clueless internet investors that are bidding it up to the moon>>

No, it is the shorters and the naysayers who are clueless.

Ebay's future truly boggles the imagination. It is the ultimate Fantasy Island--a chrerished dream come true--for baby boomers and seniors, who control wealth far out of proportion to their numbers (very substantial, anyway) in the population. For all of them, Ebay is a fountain of youth that resurrects in tangible form their lost childhoods. Advertisers bypass these people, because they already possess all the comforts and luxuries of life. They don't have a lot to spend their money on, and it sits waiting to be passed along to their inheritors. Now, Ebay offers them the one thing that their money could never buy before--a way to recapture their past.

Ebay is not just an Internet company--it is a new way of life; a new source of rejuvenation for the aging. The sums of money that will pass through its portals in the years to come are simply beyond comprehension.

Potential competition? Meaningless. It is too late for them already. This is not about paltry commission rates, which mean nothing to the people trading on Ebay. They have already found their nirvana. Ebay rules.

No, there is nothing "clueless" about wanting to own a small stake in this limitless future--whatever it costs to buy it.
