jimmyo,

Nextel (the stock) is refusing to move. It's amazing. So much good news has come out - it would boost almost any other stock I can think of. The only thing left is a buyout offer. First quarter report could be an upside surprise, but now I'm even doubting that would convince analysts.

The stock has been under fairly heavy distribution in the last week. I'm guessing that those hopeful for a good fourth quarter and / or a buyout are starting to bail, and looking for action elsewhere.

Nextel is still a compelling long term investment. Over the last week, I have dropped 1/3 of my position (long term gain), with the hope of picking it up lower. If not, I'm still comfortable with my present position. I'm worried enough about the general market that I think Nextel has a lot better chance of being lower before much higher.

Have fun in FLA. By the way, I heard Florida is also a nice place to take an RV vacation.

Rob

Jimmyo:
Glad to hear you took a little off the table..I was very disappointed with nextel not taking out the high. I guess its just not ready yet. Maybe in the summer. Everyone is so happy with this market..on TV..it tells me watch out..I give it until option exp. week to top out.
Anyway nextel has some gaps to fill..
Good luck..
Ed

Jimmyo,

This forum never was that same after big Al
(Gutkin) stopped posting prolifically. When
I first started reading Al's posts, I thought
he was very opinionated and stubborn, but grew
to appreciate his sound thinking. I'm one of
the earliest Nextel shareholders, and thought
we'd see mid-40's at least by this time. It
was shocking to see AMZN go to 300 twice (or
was it three times?) in the same time. It
seems so obvious that Nextel will be one of
the top international digital cellular companies,
but the recent strong action of PCS did compel
me to decrease my position in Nextel while adding
more PCS.

Cheers,

Mike
