The idea for the whole sequence was that some would approach the scholarly, some would be direct accounts of personal experience, some would be out and out fiction, others would be other things. The fellow behind that site wanted history in a mode acceptable to academicians, which is what he got. The tone appropriate for writing on folk Christianity would of course be somewhat different. I had thought of doing one on Mt. Banahaw, one on a really bizarre cult that I had a close encounter with long ago on Mindanao, and possibly one on the crucifixion rituals. The cult story would be direct experience, the kind of story you tell around a campfire, except that nobody would ever believe it; Banahw would be a mixture of experience - I've been there, but haven't really interacted very intimately with the scene - and reportage. Odd remembering the whole plan, it really wasn't that long ago chronologically, but it seems very remote, and there is little chance of my taking it up again.

Too bad the pun wasn't intended; it was a good one ;-)
