AAron- Re: "Do you expect that Intel will drop desktop P-III prices on March 17th with the launch of the Xeon?"

No.

The Pentium III Xeon serves an entirely different market with different financial dynamics.

My guess is that Pentium III prices will not officially drop until the 550 MHz Pentium III is introduced in May.

Intel's modus operandi is to introduce the 550 MHz at the top price level - or slightly higher - of current 500 MHz Pentium IIIs and reduce 500 and 450 MHz Pentium IIIs appropriately - probably by 15 or 20 per cent.
