I despise anti-trust laws. I was merely pointing out that if you support gov't interventionism, then you should be supporting a mixed economy (which NEOCON seems to hint at).
The only anti-trust action I currently support (and only because I ran into some of their anti-competitive behavior PERSONALLY) is the MSFT action. They are, without a doubt, the largest parasitic group in the world.
A year ago, I'd never have stated this. I loved MSFT and was appalled by the DOJ. Then, several things occurred that led me to the conclusion that MSFT has used its market leverage to marginalize other good companies that just don't have the relationships they do. And, they did it illegally AND with marginal products.
I recognize this as and inconsistency on my part. But after my own experiences, I wasn't sure that there was any better way to break this company up.
HOWEVER, now with the release of GNU and the growth of LINUX and AOL/Netscape, I AM beginning to revert to my previous position. However, it would be a relatively simple thing for MSFT to kill AOL or LINUX. I have already read the documents they have prepared to do just that. The reason they haven't yet is due to the DOJ case. If they act now or in the next year, they would easily show their colors as anti-competitive behemoth.
By that time, it is unlikely MSFT will be in the position they currently hold.
