I think we were more generous than most, yes. But we also used our power like a cudgel, and while it helped keep the West aligned in the post war years, it is having detrimental long-term effects.
They may have benefitted. But ask the Germans or Japanese today how much they owe to the US and I don't think you'll hear them singing our praises.
They may not actively dislike us. But they aren't our bestest of pals,either.
