Yen gets hit, Japanese interest rates now near zero, and its stock market goes up by 5% in a day. Fascinating.

I can't say that I understand interest rates at 0%. Why WOULDN'T someone borrow money at that rate? Then go out and buy/make some Yahoo?<g> Who gets to actually do that? Surely not individuals. It doesn't compute.

Oil prices.

A while back I asked Lawrence what would happen if we suddenly had higher oil prices?

I well remember what happend in 1979 and see no reason it can't happen again. All it takes is one OPEC meeting. Think any of the other world's oil producers would object to higher prices?

Oil - gas, plastics, transportation, the list goes on and on. The one item that can cause more inflation than any other and it's price can be controlled by a small group of Arabs.

FWIW,
Ron
