Fernando, feel free to start a thread on mergers, buyouts, etc.

I would be very interested in it. I play these things quite a bit.

I tend to stay away from the complex deal and look for small companies with low market cap that (hopefully) the bigger financed arbitrage players aren't interested in.

I also like cash deals a little better than stock so I don't eat up margin by shorting the acquirer.

Here is a list I have compiled. I have positions in some of these.

ATXI, AYD, CER, CTEN, ENQ, ETRC FHT, FPB, MILK, MICN, NWEQ, OCIS, PGS, PHSE, SFUN, SNSR, STBI, SWR, TPOA, TRUV

I don't have all my notes right here but here's a shot from the hip on what I remember about some of these stocks.

ATXI - Supposedly going private at $2/share in 99Q1. Very thinly traded though. Almost a BB stock. I own it.

AYD - Buyout at $13.50. Close 99Q2?

CER - Buyout at $65. There are legit concerns about getting through the regulatory hurdles though.

CTEN - Buyout at $16. Still waiting on government approval, by Apr 15? I own it as of yesterday.

MICN - Buyout $6 + 1 share FEIC. Currently trades with a very big discount to the deal. I wonder if the deal is in trouble. I own it.

MILK - Buyout at $18. Concerns about the deal actually going though.

TRUV - 0.0313 PCLE. Often trades at a good discount. PCLE is pretty volatile though. Deal is near conclusion.
