many growth oriented company's like dell will not ever issue a high dividend as they feel that reinvestment into their own company's infrastructure is a better investment & will in the long run better serve shareholders. stock splits are to many a better inducement. coke is a classic example of a high growth company that issues a very small dividend but has delivered historically high growth since 1981.
thats why coke has had as much as 4.5B shares outstanding.
