Citrix to raise $300 mln via notes offer

March 10, 1999 04:36 PM
FORT LAUDERDALE, March 10 (Reuters) - Software maker Citrix Systems Inc. CTXS said Wednesday it intends to raise about $300 million through an offering of convertible subordinated notes to qualified institutional investors.

The company stated that it intends to use the net proceeds of the offering, which is subject to market and other conditions, for working capital and other general corporate purposes.

The company said it could raise $400 million if the option granted to the initial purchaser is exercised in full.

I'm amazed that I haven't seen any discussion of NCD's new ThinPATH software on this thread. It provides much of the important functionality of MetaFrame, but uses RDP instead of ICA (actually, I believe it's protocol independent.) Microsoft and NCD will jointly host a live Internet presentation about it on April 6. Don't you think Microsoft's backing (however strong it might be) could do serious damage to Citrix's customer base?
