Desktops will be with us for many more years.
The reason is simply that we never seem to get enough processor power or storage capacity to do all the things we want to do.

Personal appliances like tiny CE computers, cell phones , pagers PDAs, etc. have their on market niches.

Personally, I am looking for a mobile server with terrabyte RAID capability that weighs less than 4 pounds so I can take my office with me on vacation.

re: <<Also there is talk that pretty soon the desktop PCs will be passe and even may become extinct as notebook PCs become as powerful as the desk top,no need to clutter the space. In other words as soon as notebooks becomes as powerful why bother with the bulky desktops.I don't how soon or anything. You heard anything?>>

This is the transition year. The need to be tied to your desk to access information and perform daily task is going to be taken over my many different devices. I see the monitors disappearing, replace by flat panels, maybe docking station becoming more numerous, netCell- phones, and yes wireless notebooks, the bandwidth is problem for wireless now, in the dark ages. How soon this is all going to happen, it's hard to say, but this is the year it will become more obvious.

Mohan & Greg
If you are into CDMA & 3G you need to get into Qualcomm, quick. The rest of Wall Street is beginning to figure this out. Check out QCOM's chart for this year. Check out how well it held up, in fact it increased, during the recent tech crash. It is a sure double or triple during the next year. It's PE for this coming year? <30!!!!!
