Unfortunately, I know exactly what Steve means. It's this great piece that one will get to as soon as.... It is not pressing because it does not pay the bills. The travel mags would loathe it. It is interesting to people such as you and me and to scholars (which, I gather, you and I are, possibly manque).

You and I find this phenomenon intellectually fascinating.

Unfortunately, I have noted a strange shift to PC at Natural History. These days, this sort of article, which would have been jumped on with glad cries in the past, doesn't make it into print. Smithsonian has gone so PC-berserk that I cancelled my subscription.

If Steven chooses to write of his recent observations, it will be fascinating. But he probably will not be able to put the interest of people such as you and me between two slices of bread. And the man has to pay his bills.

But let's nag at him to keep it in mind.
