The ULTRAPHONICTM Detector is a non-destructive diagnostic device that has achieved outstanding results in redusing equipment downtime and maintenance costs. It allows tasting to take place while the equpment is in operation, redusing troubleshuting time and uncertaintly in determining the cause of a problem. It will reduce the work load on maintenance personnel and the unnecessary replacement of parts. Used on regular basis, the UL101 will help you locate improper operating conditions and elusive problems and avoid costly breakdowns. The ULTRAPHONICTM Detector will improve preventive and predictive maintenance, inspections, quality control.

The ULTRAPHONICTM Detector will pay for itself in a few months by finding a single leak of 1/16th inch in a 100 PSI steam system. It is easy to use the ULTRAPHONICTM Detector to locate the source of high or low pressure steam leaks. Free flowing leaks can be heard with Model 101 from a distance of up to 50 feet. By placing the ULTRAPHONICTM transmitter inside a vehicle, fuel tank or enclosure (or injecting the wave with the extenders) leaks in weatherstripping, seals or the structure can be easily located by the receiver.
An ULTRAPHONICTM Detector can pinpoint leaks quickly in both vacuum assisted and air brake systems. After building up full pressure, a casual sweep of the vehicle from one end to the other using the receiver will determine the general location of the leak. Then, use the tip to find the specific source of the leak. Use of the headphones will reduce noise interference from the shop.
Steam traps block steam vapor and pass condense. If the trap sticks open, you have an expensive waste of steam. If it sticks closed, the heating element or power device receives no steam so it is non-functional. By using the ULTRAPHONICTM Detector, you can determine the status of a trap - open, closed or, more importantly, if it is closed and leaking. This determination can be performed without manually pulling the trap for inspection.
Partially blocked or bypassing valves in high pressure hydraulic systems can be extremely difficult and costly to locate with conventional methods. Since hydraulic systems employ a very high pressure, the intensity of the ultrasonic sound given off by an internal leak is extremely high and easily detected with the ULTRAPHONICTM Detector.
A ball or roller bearing that is in good condition and is adequately lubricated normally produces a soft "whirring" sound when listening with the ULTRAPHONICTM Detector and headset. Lack of lubrication introduces scrapping sounds. Flatspots or nicks cause a grating, grinding or clicking noise, depending on the speed of rotation and the degree of damage. For the best result, the receiver probe should touch the spindle or housing. Extention tubes are included for this purpose.
