It's not MD's selling that worries me - it can be easily explained. However, it's all the other insiders who have followed suit.

Alohal:

What I note that might be of interest is the ACCELERATION of insider selling, not just at Dell, but at virtually every technology company that I follow. It also appears that most are selling as frequently and as fervently as is allowed by the regulations. I've never seen it this ferocious in 16 years of observations. In the past, heavy insider selling has been a remarkably accurate indicator as to when one ought to take one's leave.

Another way to look at it is that by exiting now, one accomplishes the following:
- retains capital. The basic rule is "don't lose the dough"
- books the profit one deserves. It isn't profit until the paper is converted to cash.
- books the profit one does not deserve. The last two year's worth of profit has been a gift from the lambs, not intelligent investing, but as Napoleon said about his generals, "I'll take the lucky ones over the smart ones."
- has cash when cash becomes ultra valuable,....(i.e., following a crash when most have none, and prices of most assets have crumbled).
(Incidentally, whatever stocks you like now, will be available at much reduced prices on the back side of the coming crunch).

Best, Earlie

<<thus far has sold 680,000 shares in 1999 plus registering to sell another 4,000,000 shares (post split so actually 2,000,000 shares)>>
Where the heck you got the spin 'post-split?' from. On the day form 144 was filed, it indicated 4 mil shares. The split did not occurr yet. In the tradition of the rabid-bulls who would like to demand for the source every single time they 'just' see a fact, show us your sources. After all, it has to work two ways.

" plus registering to sell another 4,000,000 shares (post split so actually 2,000,000 shares)"

Since it's a forward split, I think you mean it's actually 8 million shares.
