Pruguy, I am also looking at an investment in GNET. I suggest for starters you change your home page to their site - www.go2net.com. There are plenty of ads there just like any other portal. Steve Harmon considers GNET a "portal in the making". What I like about the gnet portal is they list the top 5 financial and coffee ship threads from SI right there on the page so that anybody can view them. Then anybody can create a user in go2net for free and they can post to the SI coffee shop threads - these users have a username that says "CoffeeShop" after their name. Lots of people have joined that way I've noticed, the most popular is the "Libertarian Discussion Forum". You still have to pay to post to the stock threads I believe. When you read the threads from the gnet site, you will see all the ads.

I think SI is one of the best sites on the web and a huge benefit to any portal.... and to be honest it is the only thing that separates gnet from any other 2nd tier portal (go, snap etc.) the question is, is it enough?

I don't think much of the shopping stuff gnet has to offer, its just a me-too offering.

I became a member about the same time. Lifetime membership for 75. Now I believe SI sells annual membership. Go2net acquired SI after we joined. And in case you didn't see this on the link:
