EXPRESSION PROFILING: EXTRACTING VALUE

1:50 Large-Scale Screen of Gene Expression Patterns in Epithelial Tumors
Dr. Lewis T. Williams, Chief Scientific Officer, Chiron Corporation
We have used a novel hybridization technology for identifying differentially expressed genes in breast, lung, prostrate, colon and ovarian cancers. The focus of these experiments has been an expression pattern of highly metastic versus non-mestastic cancer cells and normal versus cancer tissue. We have also developed arrays containing a large number of novel probes and are using these to screen hundreds of laser microdissected specimens.

I guess it's no surprise that Chiron is right there--
although I am not sure if this is precisely the same
sort of thing the John Hopkins researchers are doing...
