Very true statement!

And one very instrumental man ( like the VP) from the beginning of the ADSL development has been deemed disposable to the companies' mgmt. Yes, the Mgr in charge of the ADSL development from the start (back when posters' said WSTL had a lead in the biz) is gone.
This is a layoff.

Then there's the subsequent VP, although no longer in charge of ADSL ( he got shipped off to Europe) becuz he fucked it up so bad, remains in his defective capacity, as head of the international operations on ADSL. He had destroyed the company strategy to develop cost effective ASICs for the DSL biz. To reduce margins with ASICs? Naw, wait for the TIs and MOTs to deliver. Great Sense!
Moron! He's still is a WSTLer. This is a travesty.

Come to think of it, WEL got no layoff! Guess the WSTL FAMILY is overseas...
