Eric,

"Compaq is boosting its product line to support the push. In the coming
months, Compaq will deliver Windows NT server-management software that
increases system availability. It will also introduce low-cost server appliances
based on its Alpha chip for applications such as Web caching."

Eric -
Does anybody know if Compaq is developing this "hardware for this proxy cache appliance"....
I discovered through a little digging that CPQ has been doing an extensive beta program on a caching product using Novell software. It seems likely to me that this would be a prelude to such a product. CPQ has the dominant share of both Novell installed base and new sales, and a long and close working relationship with Novell, so they are a likely partner in this. Hard to say what MS would think of it though.
