This is what I know so far...

(A) day before ex-dividend date is the last day you can buy.

(B) next day, ex-dividend date - it is OK to sell the stock.

I just did this with USU and TXU recently. Although I am certain about the prior day entry requirement, I will know for sure that the following day exit on ex-dividend date works when these two stocks' dividends hit my account. I wonder if one may have to hold the stock T+3 days after ex-dividend date, typically the record date, in order to be "on record" but, one broker tells me that simply holding overnight will work.
