In 1998, as part of an Asia-Pacific expansion program, Sellotape bought out New Zealand based adhesive tape manufacturer, TIKI-TAPE. At that time, TIKI-TAPE operated a 10-year-old financial system across three offices in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. This system was not Year 2000 compliant and could not share information with Sellotape's own system. "To consolidate the financial information of both companies we needed to deploy a single enterprise business solution," said Terry Henderson, Financial Director for Sellotape. "While our former systems were handling basic needs, we foresaw a growing number of problems." Sellotape investigated a number of enterprise solutions including Navision Software. "Navision appealed to me as it had the flexibility to support our growth plans, was Year 2000 compliant, and was able to support our future e-commerce plans." Sellotape's search led them to their long-term hardware vendor, Madison. Madison offered advice on the most suitable enterprise business solution for Sellotape's needs. "Navision Software was relatively new to the New Zealand market so I sought the opinion of an industry professional," said Henderson. "Madison advised me that they had recently been certified as a Navision Software solution centre. This reassured me that there would be strong technical support for Navision Software in New Zealand." Sellotape subsequently purchased a Navision Software solution for its Auckland headquarters. As a part of this deployment, Madison will extend remote access links to TIKI-TAPE sites in Wellington, Christchurch and Auckland. Future Plans Madison plans to implement further Canterbury Information Technology Software modules, including Sortiane e-commerce module to track on-line sales. Canterbury Software allows us to quickly track the effectiveness of our on-line developments," said Henderson. "It gives us the ability to explore new sales opportunities whilst still effectively managing core financial activities."
