Believe me, what I posted was the MOST watered-down version of what I wanted to say.

What the egold people are trying to do is create a currency --- something which, in fact, is the prerogative of countries. Yet one doesn't know who these guys are or where they are or what guarantees there are that they won't abscond with your money. Or even if they are allowed to do it. Furthermore, their egold is not even legal tender --- and they say so. If ever the expression "caveat emptor" had meaning, now's the time.

And what Mickey-Mouse assets! The maximum total value of the gold/silver coinage is only $200,000. Clearly they are looking for widows, orphans and retirees only --- and, of course, Internet experts! I'm surprised that you can fall for a two-bit scheme like that!
